After years of admiring Rosemary Beach from neighboring communities like WaterColor and Alys Beach, I finally decided it was time to stay in the heart of it all. For this year’s 4th of July family beach trip, we rented a home in Rosemary—and discovered a new side of 30A that’s both elegant and unexpectedly relaxed.
First Impressions: A Slice of Europe on the Gulf Coast
Rosemary Beach is one of the most visually striking towns along Florida’s 30A. Think cobblestone streets, white sand beaches, and architecture that looks straight out of a European village—blending Dutch West Indies, Caribbean, and even Mediterranean influences. From pastel-colored homes that remind me of Bermuda to the timeless black-and-white aesthetic of The Pearl, this 19-mile stretch of coastline never stops surprising you.
Each town on 30A has its own personality, and Rosemary’s is pure sophistication with a touch of whimsy.
Where to Stay in Rosemary Beach
You’ve got a few luxury options in Rosemary Beach:
- The Pearl – An upscale, adult-oriented boutique hotel with spa access and beachfront dining. I’ve stayed here before and loved every minute.

- Rosemary Beach Inn – A charming small hotel for those wanting cozy and central.
- Private Home Rentals – This time, we opted for a house, as we were a group of ten.

We booked through 30A Luxury Vacations, but I wouldn’t choose this company again. While the house was lovely and well-located, there was nothing “luxury” about the service. No welcome gift, no personal touches, and customer care fell flat—especially for the premium price tag.
Eastern Green vs. Western Green: A Blessing in Disguise
We thought we were staying near the lively Western Green, right in front of The Pearl, but to our surprise, we were placed on Eastern Green. At first, I was disappointed—we were farther from the bustling boutiques and restaurants.
But what I thought was a setback turned into a hidden gem. Eastern Green was quiet, relaxing, and gave our grandson space to play baseball in the open lawn while nearby families joined in. We were still steps from the beach and avoided the crowds that often gather near Western Green for photos, events, and nightlife.

Pro tip: Bring your own beach chairs if you’re visiting over the summer and want a front-row spot—my husband set ours up every morning, and it felt private even on July 4th week.

What to Do in Rosemary Beach
Rosemary is a walkable, bike-friendly community. No golf carts allowed, which honestly adds to the charm. Everything is reachable by foot or pedal, and here’s how we spent our days:
Local Highlights:
- Spa day at The Pearl
- Bike rentals to explore the community and nearby Alys Beach
- Beach bonfire night
- Dining and shopping in town
- Night-Time Crab Hunting

Nearby Excursions:
- Crab Island boat rental with a driver (from Destin)
- Family fun in Panama City: go-karts, putt-putt, and the iconic Sling Shot ride
- Fourth of July fireworks – Two shows: Rosemary on July 2nd, Alys Beach on July 4th

Final Thoughts: Would I Go Back?
We had a truly amazing Rosemary Beach Florida vacation, especially for a family gathering. But I personally missed the resort-style feel and freedom of golf carts that WaterColor offers. I also prefer the restaurant selection and atmosphere closer to Seaside and WaterColor.
That said, if you’re looking for cobblestone charm, architectural beauty, quiet greens, and white sands—Rosemary Beach delivers in a big way.
