A luxury escape in wine country:
Meadowood Luxury Resort and Spa Napa Valley
St. Helena, California
Nestled in the heart of Napa Valley, Meadowood in St. Helena offers an idyllic escape that combines exceptional service, luxurious comfort, and natural beauty. Known for its stellar reviews, this resort surpassed even my high expectations, delivering an unforgettable stay in the Napa Valley—truly a luxury escape in wine country.
Arrival and First Impressions
Meadowood welcomes you with a scenic drive through lush vineyards to a grand, vine-draped gate. From there, a team member escorts you on a golf cart to the reception area, where you feel instantly pampered.
Getting to Our Suite
We arrived around noon, and although our room wasn’t ready, we enjoyed a superb lunch at Meadowood’s restaurant. Shortly after, we received the exciting news: we’d been upgraded to the beautiful Tree Line Suite. This luxurious suite featured a cozy living room, a fireplace, and delightful details like fresh flowers, bath salts, and complimentary snacks and beverages.

Impeccable Service
The service at Meadowood was simply outstanding. The staff anticipated every need, whether assisting with reservations or arranging private transportation. The resort offers a unique service where a driver will take you to your restaurant and pick you up afterward—an especially convenient feature in Napa. For those exploring the area, a designated driver service, Napa Designated, is available for $50 an hour, where the driver uses your car for winery visits.
Amenities and Experiences
Meadowood has three exquisite pools: a family pool, an adult-only pool, and a lap pool, all surrounded by peaceful, well-landscaped areas and a bar and restaurant nearby. The resort also features well-maintained tennis courts and a luxurious spa, adding to the myriad of relaxation and recreational options available.
One of the highlights of our trip was a hot air balloon ride with Napa Valley Aloft . While a shared experience was enjoyable, NV Aloft also offers a private balloon option ($2,200), which includes resort pickup—a fantastic choice for a truly personalized Napa adventure. You’ll find more of the details in my Dining and Amenities in Napa Valley post.
Exploring Napa Valley’s Wine Country
Beyond Meadowood, we spent our days visiting different wineries and exploring the beauty of Napa Valley. Each winery offered a unique experience, from stunning vineyard views to intimate tasting atmospheres. If you’re planning a similar wine-tasting journey, you’ll find all the details in my Dining and Amenities in Napa Valley post, where I list the best vineyards, dining spots, and charming towns to explore nearby.
Thoughtful Farewell
Upon departure, the Meadowood team added a sweet final touch: they loaded our car, provided bottled water and cookies, and sent us on our way with a lasting impression of Napa Valley hospitality. While we visited the newer Auberge resort nearby for comparison, Meadowood remains my top choice for its charm, warmth, and exceptional service. I’d absolutely return for its unique blend of Napa Valley luxury and cozy ambiance—a true luxury escape in wine country.
