Located along Scenic Highway 30A, Alys Beach feels completely different from anywhere else in the United States. The all-white Bermudian architecture, lantern-lit courtyards, and bright Gulf water create a setting that feels closer to a Mediterranean coastal village than a typical Florida beach town.
The atmosphere is clean, quiet, and intentionally uncrowded. Everything moves at a slower pace. It is often described as the Santorini of Florida, and once you arrive, that comparison makes sense.

What It Feels Like to Stay in Alys Beach
Alys Beach is a private, residential community. There are no hotels within the neighborhood itself. Guests stay in condos or full homes, which gives the entire area a more exclusive and less commercial feel.
The town is designed for walking and biking. There are no golf carts allowed, which keeps the streets quieter and more visually consistent. While that does add to the overall aesthetic, it is one of the few things I don’t love, especially if you are used to getting around 30A by golf cart.
It is best suited for couples, anniversaries, and long weekends where the focus is on wellness rather than packing in activities.

Staying inside Alys Beach comes with access to several private amenities:

There is an open air restaurant and bar right at the pool called “Caliza Restaurant”, they serve light bites, lunch, and drinks poolside. - Private Beach Access Points

The Pools at Alys Beach
Caliza Pool
Caliza Pool is the main social and visual centerpiece of the community.
The design is inspired by a large open courtyard with limestone walls and palm trees throughout. The space includes:
- A 100-foot zero-entry pool
- A 75-foot lap pool
- A separate family pool with fountains
- Private cabanas
It feels open, quiet, and well spaced. Even during busier times, it never feels overly crowded.

Zuma Pool
For a more wellness-focused environment, ZUMA Wellness Center offers a calmer setting centered around fitness and wellness.

Best Restaurants in Alys Beach
The dining scene is small but well curated. These are the standouts:
- George’s at Alys Beach: Personal favorite. This is the place I kept going back to. It works just as well for a relaxed lunch as it does for dinner, with fresh seafood and one of the prettiest outdoor settings in Alys Beach. They do not take reservations. During busy season the line starts forming aroung 4:40pm.
- O-Ku Alys Beach: Personal favorite. A go-to for sushi with a slightly more modern feel. It is a great change of pace for dinner and always feels a little more lively without being overdone. They do take reservations and I recommend making them a few weeks in advance!
- The Citizen: This is where I would go for a nicer dinner. Steaks, seafood, and cocktails in a more polished setting that still fits the relaxed feel of the area. They take reservations through Resy.
- Indaco: Opening in Spring/Summer 2026, italian with handmade pasta and wood-fired dishes. It is the kind of place you go when you want to sit a little longer, order a few things, and take your time.
- Raw & Juicy: My go-to in the mornings. Easy, casual, and perfect before heading to the beach with coffee, juices, and lighter options.
- Caliza Restaurant: Located at Caliza Pool and only available to guests staying in Alys Beach. It is an easy option for lunch without having to leave the pool.
- NEAT Bottle Shop & Tasting Room: A great spot in the evening for wine or cocktails. It feels a little more tucked away and relaxed, which makes it nice after dinner.

For more variety, nearby Rosemary Beach and Seaside are just a short ride away.
Best Shopping in Alys Beach
The shopping scene is small but well curated. These are the standouts:
- The Alys Shoppe: This is the main shop in Alys Beach and the easiest place to stop in. They carry a mix of resort wear, swim, accessories, and Alys Beach branded pieces. It is a good first stop if you need anything for the beach or forgot to pack something.
- MERIT: A more elevated boutique with designer clothing, jewelry, and accessories. Everything feels very curated and fits the overall style of Alys Beach.
- Barefoot Princess: A go-to for women’s resort wear. Think dresses and outfits that work well for dinners, events, or evenings out.
- Alo Yoga: A great stop for activewear and lounge pieces. It fits in well with the wellness side of Alys Beach, especially if you are planning to use ZUMA Wellness Center.
- SummerStory: A home and lifestyle store with furniture and décor inspired by the architecture and design you see throughout Alys Beach. Even if you are not shopping, it is worth walking through.
- Holiday Shop: A smaller gift shop with beach-inspired pieces, home items, and easy souvenirs.
- NEAT Bottle Shop & Tasting Room: More than just a bar, you can also shop wines, spirits, and cocktail accessories here. A good place to stop if you are staying in and want something for the house.
Because Alys Beach is a quieter, residential community, shopping is intentionally limited. If you want more variety, it is easy to head over to nearby Rosemary Beach or Seaside, which are only a few minutes away.

Most condos do not have private pools or large outdoor spaces, but they still include access to all guest amenities, which makes them a good option for shorter stays or smaller groups.
