When planning my niece’s high school graduation trip to New York City, I knew our hotel needed to match the magic of the moment. I spent hours speaking with concierges at some of Manhattan’s most prestigious five-star hotels, and one name kept rising to the top: Baccarat Hotel New York.
This isn’t just a hotel—it’s a sensorial escape into refinement, romance, and timeless luxury. Baccarat Hotel New York is the only one of its kind in the world, operated by the legendary 260-year-old French crystal brand. From the moment you walk through the discreet entrance on West 53rd Street, you feel transported into a Parisian-inspired world of grandeur and seduction.
Location: Glamour Meets Convenience
The Baccarat Hotel New York is tucked discreetly across from the Museum of Modern Art, Baccarat Hotel offers an ideal balance: steps away from Central Park, Fifth Avenue, Times Square, and Rockefeller Center, yet removed just enough to feel private and serene.
Located at 28 West 53rd Street, you’re within walking distance to:
- Radio City Music Hall
- Grand Central Station
- Broadway theaters
- And some of the city’s best dining and shopping
It’s the perfect home base for a girls’ trip, romantic escape, or a chic business stay.
First Impressions: A Grand Welcome
Upon arrival, we were greeted warmly by the valet staff, who promptly whisked away our luggage and made us feel like royalty. The hotel’s lobby is located on the second level, where Baccarat’s distinctive design immediately takes center stage: crystal chandeliers, velvet drapes, floor-to-ceiling mirrors, and rich textures set a sensual, moody tone.
The check-in experience was seamless. Though we arrived early, our room was already prepared by 12:30 PM, a welcome surprise that set the tone for an effortless, luxury stay. A special touch: the hotel surprised my niece with a personalized “Congratulations” dessert—a thoughtful and memorable gesture that showed just how intentional the service is.
Our Room: A Sanctuary of Luxury
When we arrived at our room, even the entrance felt intentional—a bespoke art piece with our room number greeted us at the foyer. Inside, the space unfolded like a beautifully decorated cake: soft lighting, meticulous details, and rich textures at every turn.
Everything about the room was a study in refined luxury:
- A cloud-like bed with crisp, high-thread-count linens
- Oversized mirrors that reflected elegance from every angle
- Red roses delicately placed throughout
- Baccarat’s signature feather-tipped pens and branded stationery
Even the essentials felt indulgent. Need a toothbrush, a Nespresso pod, or more shampoo? The staff delivered it within minutes—not one, but several of each item, beautifully presented on a silver tray. It’s the kind of service that anticipates rather than reacts.
Our room also featured two cloth chairs and a table by the window, ideal for in-room breakfast or sipping espresso while watching the city go by.

Amenities & Experiences
Though we didn’t have time to experience everything the hotel offers, it was clear that every amenity was crafted with the same precision and elegance Baccarat is known for.
- Turn Down Service: Nightly desserts and perfectly adjusted lighting made returning to the room feel magical.
- Fitness Center: Yes, even the gym has crystal chandeliers overhead.
- Indoor Pool: One of the most exclusive in the city. You can reserve private daybeds with curtains for added comfort and privacy.
- Spa: Though we didn’t make it to the spa, it’s stocked with La Mer products and remains at the top of my list for next time.
- Outdoor Patio: An elegant bar area perfect for a pre-dinner cocktail or a quiet morning coffee.
- Gift Shop: From perfumes and crystal glassware to decorative butterflies and chandeliers, the boutique is a dream for collectors of Baccarat’s iconic pieces.

Standout Feature: The House Car
One of the most convenient perks: the hotel offers a complimentary house car—a luxurious Mercedes Maybach—for travel within a 15-block radius. Whether you’re heading to Central Park, Tiffany & Co., or your dinner reservation, it’s the kind of amenity that turns convenience into true luxury.
Dining Experience: Room for Improvement
We dined at the Grand Salon twice: once for lunch and once for breakfast. While the setting was beautiful and the food was decent, the service left room for improvement. Our lunch was slow and lacked attention to detail. During breakfast, our coffee arrived at the same time as our food, which felt off for a luxury property.
That said, the hotel acknowledged this and offered us a $100 dining credit, which was a gracious gesture and demonstrated their commitment to guest satisfaction.

Concierge: Above and Beyond
The concierge team was flawless throughout our stay. They helped us secure one of the hardest reservations to secure, Tiffany Blue Box Café. Their knowledge, connections, and thoughtful touches made navigating the city a breeze.
