Perfectly positioned on Canal Street at the edge of the iconic French Quarter, The Ritz-Carlton New Orleans offers unparalleled access to the city’s most famous attractions. Housed in the historic Beaux-Arts Maison Blanche building, this five-star hotel promises luxury and Southern charm. But does its prime location and elegant ambiance make it worth the stay? Let’s explore how this hotel measures up in delivering the ultimate New Orleans experience.
Arrival Experience
From the moment I arrived, the valet staff welcomed me warmly. Their professionalism set the tone for a luxury experience. The check-in process, located on the second level, was smooth. My room was not ready upon arrival at 12 PM, which was expected because check-in wasn’t until 4 PM. However, by 5 PM, I was still waiting. A call to the front desk revealed that my request for a 4th-floor Club Level room was delayed due to post-hurricane closures. Once I arrived in my room, I realized it had a construction view. The staff offered me an alternative room on the 5th floor with a city view, but I chose to stay in my original room to remain close to the Club Level, despite the construction outside.

Room and Accommodations
The updated room decor was modern and inviting, but the view of ongoing construction was disappointing. Additionally, I couldn’t open my curtains due to workers directly outside. A small service misstep occurred when my morning coffee was delivered without a stirrer.

Club Level Experience
The Ritz-Carlton New Orleans Club Level is a primary reason I return. It offers a luxurious retreat with exclusive access to food, beverages, and a quiet space to unwind. Despite some understaffing during this visit, the convenience and offerings still made it a highlight of my stay.
Even with minor service hiccups, the Ritz-Carlton New Orleans Club Level remains great value. With 24-hour access to refreshments and evening hors d’oeuvres, it’s perfect for unwinding after a day in the city. The peaceful ambiance and views make it a must-experience for those seeking extra luxury.

On-Site Amenities
- Spa: Beautiful and relaxing with a charming gift shop perfect for picking up unique items.
- Fitness Center: Conveniently located next to the spa.
- Gift Shop: Located across from the main-level check-in, offering a variety of upscale souvenirs.

Notable Observations
- No outdoor pool on-site.
- No personalized experiences or upgrades typically expected from The Ritz-Carlton New Orleans brand.
Comparing Nearby Options
I visited the newly opened Four Seasons, just 3/4 mile away. Its modern design, rooftop pool, and dining options were impressive. However, for a first-time visit, I recommend The Ritz-Carlton New Orleans for its unbeatable location and Club Level. For summer stays focused on poolside relaxation, the Four Seasons might be a better fit.

Tips for Staying at The Ritz-Carlton New Orleans
- Request an outside view room.
- Stay on the Club Level for enhanced amenities.
- Pre-book dining reservations at least 2-3 weeks in advance with concierge assistance.
Final Thoughts
Despite a few service hiccups and minor inconveniences, The Ritz-Carlton New Orleans absolutely lives up to the hype, thanks to its authentic New Orleans atmosphere, prime location, and exclusive Club Level experience. For those seeking a blend of luxury and Southern charm in the heart of the city, this hotel remains a top choice.
