Located just 35 minutes from Miami International Airport, The Ritz-Carlton South Beach offers a luxurious beachfront experience right in the heart of the action. From its sexy, dark interiors to its unbeatable location near top restaurants, shopping, and trails, this hotel continues to be one of my go-to favorites in Miami.
This was my third time staying at the South Beach location, so I knew what to expect—and it delivered.
First Impressions
We arrived at the hotel around 12:00 PM, and it was packed with other guests checking in. But despite the crowd, we were greeted by the friendliest gentleman—Gustavo—whose warm smile and gracious energy completely changed the atmosphere. That’s the kind of welcome that stays with you.
And the best part? Our room was ready early, so we were able to start enjoying our vacation right away.
Hotel Atmosphere & Lobby
The hotel has a dark, sexy, and luxurious aesthetic as soon as you walk in. While there are no ocean views from the lobby, the space feels upscale and chic. That said, the front entrance can be underwhelming—the surrounding condos are a bit rundown and don’t reflect the elegance waiting inside.

Our Room: Oceanfront Club Level
We always request the oceanfront room on the Club Level, and it’s exactly what we received. The room itself isn’t overly extravagant, but it’s elevated with:
- Incredible ocean and pool views
- High-end amenities
- Plush bedding and luxurious linens
It’s the kind of room that makes you want to throw the balcony door open and stay in your robe all day.

Club Lounge Access
We had breakfast and lunch daily in the Club Lounge and ventured out for dinners. The food was excellent, fresh, and beautifully presented. The only downside? The lounge doesn’t have an outdoor seating area, which would’ve been the perfect way to enjoy the Miami breeze and view.
Still, Club Level is 100% worth it, especially for those who appreciate having food and drinks readily available throughout the day.
Dining on Property
While we didn’t eat at any of the on-site restaurants this trip, here’s a quick overview of the options:
- Zatinya – Turkish, Greek & Lebanese cuisine with ocean and pool views
- DiLido Beach Club – Oceanfront, international menu
- Lapidus Bar – Lobby bar for cocktails and small bites
- Bagatelle – French-Mediterranean, known for vibrant ambiance
Pool & Beach
We spent most of our time relaxing at the pool and beach, and the setting was exactly what we needed.
Travel Tip:
- Beach service starts at 9:30 AM—you can’t reserve chairs before then.
- Pool chairs fill fast, so head down by 9:00 AM unless you’re renting a daybed.
- You can reserve ocean daybeds by visiting ritzcarltonsouthbeach.ipoolside.com or using the ResortPass app.
The complimentary sunscreen station at the pool is a thoughtful touch, and don’t miss the Gelatys artisanal gelato offered poolside.

Spa & Fitness
We didn’t book a spa treatment this time, but it’s available if you’re looking for relaxation. The 24-hour gym is fully equipped for early birds or night owls wanting to sneak in a workout.
Ritz Kids
While this trip wasn’t with family, the hotel does offer Ritz Kids programming for those traveling with children.
Staff Highlights
Aside from our incredible greeting by Gustavo, another staff member stood out—Alain. One night, we ran into trouble returning bikes we had rented through the local Deco Bike program. After trying multiple full stations, Alain kindly took the bikes back at the hotel. That right there is why you stay at The Ritz-Carlton—the staff goes above and beyond.

Things to Know Before You Go
- Complimentary bikes were out of service during our stay, but the hotel refunded our resort fee, which we appreciated.
- We were sent a welcome amenity in our room: a bottle of wine, chocolates, and a personalized letter—such a lovely touch.
- This hotel is great for couples, girls’ trips, and guys’ weekends.
- Miami in April is perfection—sunny, breezy, and low 80s.
Must-Have Travel Items
Don’t forget to pack these for your South Beach stay:
✔️ Mirror
✔️ Battery-operated fan (a lifesaver at the pool and beach)
