When planning a trip to Las Vegas, one of the first decisions you’ll need to make is where to stay on the Strip. Some travelers gravitate toward the newest hotels with ultra-modern designs, while others prefer a property that has stood the test of time and helped define the city’s luxury reputation. For me, that place has always been the iconic Bellagio Las Vegas.
I’ve stayed at the Bellagio at least five times over the years, so by now I know exactly what to expect when I book a stay there. The hotel has a timeless elegance that continues to draw me back, but the real reason I keep returning is the location. Sitting directly in the center of the Strip, the Bellagio places you within walking distance of so many of Las Vegas’ major attractions, restaurants, and entertainment venues. Combined with the famous fountains out front, it remains one of the most recognizable and iconic hotels in the city.
Getting to Las Vegas
Most travelers arriving in Las Vegas will land at Harry Reid International Airport (LAS), which is conveniently located about ten to fifteen minutes from the Strip.
For those traveling by private aviation or looking for a more discreet arrival experience, there are also private terminals such as Atlantic Aviation, which handles many private jet arrivals and corporate aviation flights. Another option is Henderson Executive Airport, located about twenty minutes from the Strip and often used by travelers who want to avoid the commercial airport entirely.

A Seamless VIP Arrival
One of the things the Bellagio does particularly well is its VIP guest experience, especially when staying in one of the higher-end suites. Depending on the room category, guests may have access to a dedicated VIP host who assists with everything from dining reservations and show tickets to special requests throughout the stay. Private or priority check-in areas allow you to bypass the busy front desk entirely, and some guests receive access to a VIP lounge with beverages and light bites. Luxury airport transfers, priority pool cabanas, and personalized in-suite amenities can also be part of the experience.
When we arrived for this particular stay, we were met outside the hotel by our host and escorted directly into the VIP lounge for check-in. The arrival process could not have been smoother. There were no lines, no crowds, and no waiting, just friendly staff guiding us through the process. It set the tone for the entire stay before we even stepped into the room.
First Impressions of the Bellagio
Walking into the Bellagio lobby always makes an impression, no matter how many times you’ve been there. The atmosphere feels refined and artistic, with a subtle floral scent that immediately signals you’ve arrived somewhere special.
Above the lobby hangs the famous glass flower ceiling designed by Dale Chihuly, an installation made of thousands of colorful hand-blown glass blossoms that has become one of the most photographed features in Las Vegas. Just beyond the lobby sits the beautiful Bellagio Conservatory & Botanical Gardens, where elaborate seasonal floral displays transform the space throughout the year. Even after several visits, it still feels like a moment worth pausing for.

The Suite: Premier Fountain View Penthouse
For this stay, we booked a Two-Bedroom Premier Fountain View Penthouse, and it was easily one of the most impressive suites I’ve experienced at the property. The suite was perfectly centered above the iconic Fountains of Bellagio, giving us a front-row view of the fountain performances directly from the windows.
The layout of the suite was thoughtfully designed, with both bedrooms featuring identical floor plans and matching bathrooms, making it ideal for traveling with family or friends. The suite also included a kitchenette, spacious living areas, and bathrooms equipped with heated bidet toilets with automatic lid opening and soft night lighting.
The overall feeling of the space was luxurious yet comfortable. Large windows framed the city lights and fountains, and the elegant finishes throughout the suite made it feel both sophisticated and relaxing at the same time. I’ve stayed in several suites at the Bellagio over the years, but this one truly stood out.

A Special Birthday Celebration
We were actually in Las Vegas for the SEMA truck show, but it also happened to be my daughter-in-law’s birthday, which made the trip feel even more special. The Bellagio team went out of their way to recognize the occasion from the moment we arrived.
When we walked into the suite, we were greeted with balloons, champagne, a birthday cake, and chocolate-covered strawberries waiting for her. It was one of those thoughtful touches that truly elevates a stay and reminds you how meaningful personalized service can be.

Dining at the Bellagio
One of the things that makes the Bellagio such a destination is the incredible range of dining options located throughout the property.
For breakfast, we always return to Sadelle’s, an upscale breakfast and brunch restaurant known for its classic menu and lively atmosphere. The food is fantastic, but it has become extremely popular, so the line can be long. The best strategy is to make a reservation one to two weeks in advance or arrive early in the morning. Guests with elite status through Marriott Bonvoy or MGM Rewards can also sometimes have a concierge assist with reservations.

Another favorite is Prime Steakhouse, an elegant steakhouse with a patio overlooking the fountains. Dining outside here while the fountains perform is one of the most memorable experiences on the Strip. Reservations should ideally be made several weeks in advance, especially if you’re hoping for patio seating.
On this trip we also just missed the opening of Carbone Riviera by a single day. The restaurant focuses on coastal Italian cuisine and seafood with a glamorous dining room and lakeside patio overlooking the fountains. Some experiences even include a short yacht ride on the Bellagio lake for fountain views, which sounds like an unforgettable way to experience the show.
Pool and Resort Atmosphere
The Bellagio pool area feels like a Mediterranean garden courtyard tucked away from the energy of the Strip. Surrounded by greenery and classical architecture, it offers a peaceful place to relax during the day.
When we visited in November, daytime temperatures were in the 70s, which made the pool especially enjoyable. The pool complex is typically open year-round, though winter hours may be reduced and one pool remains heated during the colder months.

Hidden Lounges and Nightlife
Beyond the casino and restaurants, the Bellagio also offers a few unique nightlife experiences.
One of the most intriguing is The Vault, a hidden speakeasy tucked behind an unmarked door near the casino floor. The space is intimate, dimly lit, and filled with velvet seating and luxurious décor, creating an atmosphere that feels worlds away from the busy casino outside.
Another popular venue is The Pinky Ring by Bruno Mars, a private lounge created by Bruno Mars. Live bands and DJs perform throughout the night, and on rare occasions Bruno Mars himself even appears to perform with his band.

Looking Ahead: Trying the Wynn
Although the Bellagio has been one of my go-to hotels in Las Vegas for years, my next trip will likely include trying something new. The nearby Wynn Las Vegas has been on my radar for some time.
During this trip we actually chose the Wynn for our spa day after researching several options and speaking with the spa team, and the experience was exceptional. The spa was beautiful, luxurious, and the service was outstanding. After that visit, it definitely moved to the top of my list for a future stay.
Final Thoughts
The Bellagio remains one of the most iconic hotels on the Las Vegas Strip. Its casino feels more like an elegant luxury lounge than a traditional gaming floor, and the atmosphere captures the classic glamour that made Las Vegas famous.
That said, the property can become extremely crowded, and at times it can even be difficult to get a drink while playing on the casino floor. Still, the combination of location, history, and the famous fountains makes it a place I continue to return to.
If you want to experience the Bellagio at its absolute best, I recommend booking one of the property’s top-tier accommodations such as a Bellagio Villa, Chairman’s Suite, Presidential Suite, or one of the Penthouse Suites. These categories unlock the full VIP experience and elevate the stay significantly.
