One of the questions I get asked the most after sharing our trips to 30A is, “Where should we eat?” After visiting WaterColor more than twenty times, we’ve found ourselves returning to the same restaurants year after year while also trying a few new places along the way.
Whether you’re staying at the WaterColor Inn, renting a WaterColor house, or exploring nearby Seaside and Rosemary Beach, there are plenty of great restaurants within a short drive. Some have become traditions for us, while others are places we probably won’t return to.
If you’re planning a trip to 30A, here are the restaurants I recommend the most.
Stinky’s Fish Camp
If you’re looking for some of the best seafood on 30A, Stinky’s Fish Camp should be at the top of your list.
We actually hadn’t been here in years, but decided to give it another try during our most recent trip. It ended up being one of the best meals we had all week, and we’re so glad we went back. The seafood was incredibly fresh, and if you’re visiting during crab season, the crab legs are a must.
One thing to know before you go is that they don’t accept reservations. They open at 11:00 a.m. Monday through Friday and 10:00 a.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. During the summer, the wait can easily stretch well over an hour, especially around dinner. We recommend arriving early if you’re planning to eat in the evening to avoid a long wait.
If you only have time for one casual seafood meal during your trip, this would easily be one of my top recommendations.
Fish Out of Water
While many people visit for dinner, we actually think weekend brunch is where Fish Out of Water really shines. Brunch is served Saturday and Sunday only, making it a great option if your trip includes a weekend.
There’s something special about enjoying brunch while overlooking the Gulf. The atmosphere feels relaxed, the views are beautiful, and if you’re on vacation, their bottomless mimosas make it even better.
If you’re staying at the WaterColor Inn, this is an easy walk from your room and one of our favorite ways to spend a slow Saturday or Sunday morning.
Scratch Biscuit Kitchen
Sometimes you just want a quick breakfast before heading to the beach, and Scratch Biscuit Kitchen has become our go-to.
Located in WaterColor, it’s perfect if you’re staying in the community and don’t want to drive anywhere first thing in the morning.
While the homemade biscuits are what most people come for, don’t overlook the avocado and guacamole toast if you’re looking for something a little lighter. Their yogurt bowls are another favorite when we want something fresh before spending the day outside.
It’s casual, quick, and consistently good.
Captain Anderson’s
Technically, this one isn’t on 30A, but it’s absolutely worth mentioning.
Captain Anderson’s is located in Panama City Beach, about an hour from WaterColor, and we’ve made the drive several times because it’s simply that good.
This is one of those restaurants that’s been around for decades and has built a reputation for serving excellent seafood alongside surprisingly great steaks. Whether you’re celebrating a special occasion or just want one memorable dinner during your vacation, this is a great choice.
Like Stinky’s Fish Camp, they don’t accept reservations, so expect a wait during busy times. I would recommend getting there at 5:00pm
Even with the drive, we’d happily go back every trip.
Old Florida Fish House
Old Florida Fish House offers one of the most unique dining settings on 30A.
When making your reservation, request an outdoor table overlooking Eastern Lake. The view alone makes the experience worth it, especially around sunset.
The menu offers plenty of fresh seafood, but their sushi is what keeps bringing us back. Even if everyone in your group wants something different, there’s enough variety that everyone usually finds something they enjoy.
Unlike several other popular restaurants along 30A, they do accept reservations, which makes planning your evening much easier.
Basmati’s Asian Cuisine
If you’re ready for something other than seafood, Basmati’s Asian Cuisine is a great change of pace.
Located near Blue Mountain Beach, Basmati’s offers Asian-inspired dishes in a quiet setting that’s perfect for a slower evening.
Reservations are available, which is always a plus during the busy summer season.
After several seafood dinners throughout the week, we always appreciate having a completely different option available.
Pescado
Pescado in Rosemary Beach has quickly become one of the hardest reservations to get along 30A, and after eating there, it’s easy to understand why.
The rooftop views overlooking the Gulf are absolutely beautiful, especially as the sun begins to set.
If you want the full experience, request an outdoor table when making your reservation. You’ll definitely want to book three to four weeks in advance during the summer because reservations fill up quickly.
The food is excellent, but honestly, the combination of the atmosphere, service, and views makes this one of the most memorable dinners you’ll have during your trip.
If you’re celebrating an anniversary, birthday, or simply want one upscale dinner, Pescado is an easy recommendation.
Bud & Alley’s
No restaurant is more iconic in Seaside than Bud & Alley’s.
We’ve eaten here multiple times, and there are actually two different experiences depending on where you choose to dine.
The upstairs rooftop is our personal favorite. The views of the Gulf are incredible, the atmosphere feels casual and lively, and it’s the perfect place to watch the sunset. Just know they don’t accept reservations upstairs, so you’ll need to arrive early if you don’t want to wait.
Downstairs offers a much more traditional dining experience. It’s quieter, a little more upscale, and reservations are strongly recommended. During the summer, I’d book at least two or three weeks in advance.
If you’re visiting Seaside for the first time, Bud & Alley’s deserves a spot on your itinerary.
Restaurants I’d Skip
Not every popular restaurant lived up to the hype for us.
Red Bar
Red Bar is probably one of the most talked-about restaurants on 30A, and while the food was good, the atmosphere just wasn’t for us.
It tends to be very loud and crowded, making it difficult to enjoy a relaxing dinner. If you love lively restaurants, you may enjoy it, but it isn’t somewhere we feel the need to revisit.
Shunk Gulley
Shunk Gulley has beautiful views, but overall it wasn’t memorable enough for us to recommend over some of the other restaurants on this list.
With so many great dining options nearby, we’d personally choose somewhere else.
Black Bear Bread Co.
Black Bear Bread Co. serves delicious pastries and breakfast, but the morning lines can be incredibly long.
The food is good, but during vacation we’d rather spend less time waiting and more time enjoying the beach.
If you visit outside of peak breakfast hours, you’ll probably have a much better experience.
Farm & Fire
Farm & Fire simply wasn’t one of our favorites.
Everyone has different tastes, but compared to the other restaurants we’ve enjoyed on 30A, this is one we’d skip on future visits.
The Bottom Line
One of the things that keeps bringing us back to WaterColor year after year is the incredible variety of restaurants nearby. Whether you’re looking for a quick breakfast before heading to the beach, fresh seafood after a day in the sun, or an upscale dinner with Gulf views, there’s something for every type of vacation.
If I were planning a first trip, my must-visit restaurants would be Stinky’s Fish Camp for seafood, Fish Out of Water for brunch, Bud & Alley’s for sunset, Pescado for a special dinner, and Captain Anderson’s if you’re willing to make the drive.
Reservations are extremely important during spring break and summer, so plan ahead whenever possible. A little preparation can save you hours of waiting and help you experience some of the best dining that 30A has to offer.
After more than twenty trips to WaterColor, these are the restaurants in 2026 that I would recommend, and the ones we’ll be visiting again on our next trip.
